  • COLD TURKEY

  • The WRONG way to stop Benzos!

'Cold turkey' refers to suddenly stopping an addictive drug. If you've been taking a benzodiazepine at a high dose or for a long time, abruptly discontinuing it can put you at risk of seizures, which is highly dangerous. The intense symptoms from a cold turkey withdrawal often lead to a return to benzo use and can create an unrealistic fear of what a gradual taper might involve. Additionally, anecdotal reports suggest that quitting benzodiazepines abruptly may prolong the duration of withdrawal symptoms.
