Creating a Blog

Basic Requirements

If you’re interested in starting a blog at Beating Benzos, you can request one, but we aim to avoid an overload of blogs created impulsively and left inactive.

Before requesting to start a blog, we expect you to have some level of engagement within Beating Benzos and not be a brand-new member. That said, we’re flexible—if you’re motivated to blog, we’ll gladly offer you the opportunity regardless of your membership duration or post count.

Expectations for Bloggers

All blog content should follow our Community Guidelines.

We encourage you to create content that’s fresh, engaging, thoughtful, and relevant. You don’t need to be a professional writer—experiment with your ideas and draw inspiration from other blogs. The key is to be authentic and interesting.

Technical Guidelines

We have a variety of top-level categories for blogs—just pick the one that fits your content best. Since blogging is still a new feature, each member can only have one blog at this time, though there’s no limit on the number of entries you can post. If you ever want to change your blog’s category, simply reach out to the team and we’ll help move it.

Each blog entry also has its own sub-categories (or tags) that you can create and edit as needed. You’re also free to add descriptions and banner images to your blog and its individual entries.

Limitations

Blogs are intended to share experiences, ideas, and thoughts, but they aren’t meant to serve as personal support spaces. While your blog may include content on benzodiazepine withdrawal and recovery, its purpose should be more reflective or informative rather than functioning as a support forum. For direct support, the main forums are the appropriate place for discussion.

Blogs should offer a break from the stress of withdrawal, both for you and your readers, providing a distraction that helps everyone focus on something positive or insightful.

How to Start a Blog

To begin, simply create a thread in the Contact the Team forum and let us know you’ve reviewed this guide.

If you’re not ready to start a blog right away, you’re welcome to explore and comment on others to get a feel for how they work.

We look forward to seeing your blog!
