Guidelines for Using the Personal Messaging System

 

The direct messaging system is designed for light-hearted conversation and emotional support, but it is not intended for discussing tapering or withdrawal issues or for seeking or providing medical advice. Messages exchanged may reflect individual viewpoints without the chance for alternative perspectives or corrections of misinformation.
 

We have occasionally seen individuals posing as coaches offering questionable services within our community. It is our responsibility to safeguard our more vulnerable members from potential misrepresentation, especially via the messaging platform.

Given these concerns, we ask that you follow our messaging guidelines closely.

Please report any messages under the following circumstances:
 

• Attempts to divert you for communication outside the Beating Benzos community.
   
• Requests for personal information such as your real name, email address, or phone number, or invitations to join external social media groups.
   
• Messages that imply guilt or blame regarding your circumstances.
   
• Claims of conducting research on individuals undergoing benzodiazepine withdrawal.
   
• Attempts to provide tapering advice related to your withdrawal (or other medications), suggestions to change or stop a medication, or offers of counseling or similar services.
   
• Inquiries about withdrawal support, tapering advice, or any health-related assistance.
   
• Any other communication that makes you feel uneasy.
  
   

To report concerning messages, use the 'Report' feature found in the three-dot menu at the upper right corner of your message thread. You’ll have the chance to include comments explaining your concerns before submitting the report. Please do not delete related messages until the matter has been addressed.
 

By bringing messages of questionable intent to the attention of our administration team, we can identify patterns of suspicious behavior, respond to obvious violations, and help ensure the safety of all members.
 

We understand that friendships will form, and some members may wish to communicate outside the Beating Benzos community. This is entirely your choice, but we urge you to use caution. Please note that we generally cannot intervene in matters occurring outside this website. We provide secure communication channels right here at Beating Benzos and strongly recommend that you utilize these platforms.

If you choose to share your contact information despite our warnings, you do so entirely at your own risk. We cannot be held liable for any consequences arising from sharing personally identifiable information through our systems.
