How To Do A Benzo Crossover

The Ashton Method involves a gradual reduction of benzodiazepine use, typically switching from a short-acting benzo to a longer-acting one like diazepam (Valium). This longer-acting alternative helps stabilize withdrawal symptoms before beginning a slow taper, reducing the dose over weeks or months.

However, not everyone needs to switch to a long-acting benzodiazepine. Many individuals can manage their withdrawal symptoms by adjusting the timing of doses with their current short-acting benzo. If you do choose to switch to diazepam or another long-acting benzo, it's essential to refer to the Ashton equivalency tables to ensure proper dosing.

** Please be aware that this approach may not work for everyone, and it’s important to adjust your tapering schedule as needed. This IS NOT medical advice—always consult your healthcare provider before making any changes to your medication regimen.
